Show Karen's Biography

Karen currently serves as the Project Coordinator within TTBD office. In this role, her responsibilities are to maintain the department's online presence, plan and organize events, and manage projects and programs within the office.

Prior to joining the TTBD team in 2013, she worked in a variety of different marketing positions in the Portland area. Karen graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor's degree in advertising with a minor in business administration and sociology. She is currently working towards a masters in business administration.

In her spare time, she enjoys jogging with her German Shepherd, reading, and traveling to new places.

Show Nicole's Biography

Nicole started working in the OHSU office of Technology and Research Collaborations (now known as Technology Transfer and Business Development) in 2007, originally hired as the department's Administrative Assistant. Since then, she has held the positions of Executive Assistant, Compliance/Database Administrator, and her current role as Operations Manager. Nicole's duties include managing daily office operations, agreement compliance, federal invention reporting, database administration, data analysis, HR coordination, and running TTBD's internship program.

Nicole is a graduate of Oregon Health & Science University's and Portland State University's joint Healthcare MBA program. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Lewis & Clark College, where she graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with departmental honors. 

During her lunch breaks, Nicole is usually found walking along the Willamette River. She also has a penchant for Kit Kats from around the world and has tried over fifty flavors of the candy (favorites: orange chocolate from the UK and apple chocolate from Japan).

Show Justin's Biography

Justin began working for Technology Transfer and Business Development at OHSU in the summer of 2016. His duties include providing general office support, data entry services, assistance with federal invention reporting, and front desk reception services.

A native of Northern California, Justin moved to Oregon in the summer of 2015. He comes to OHSU after previously working in the food service industry, holding positions at both Meadowbrook Meat Company and Sysco Foods. During his time in these positions, he received such honors as being named Teammate of the Year (both locally and regionally) and Employee of the Month for the first quarter of 2015.

In his free time, Justin is an avid theatre goer, a lover of cats, and a fan of many films and TV series. His favorite musical is West Side Story and his favorite TV show is Will & Grace.

Show Yana's Biography

Yana currently serves as a Financial Analyst II within TTBD. Her primary responsibilities are managing TTBD's budget, accounts receivable, and royalty distribution process. Prior to joining the TTBD team, Yana worked as an Accountant II in Hospital Finance at OHSU, a Corporate Accountant at Precision Castparts Corp., an Accountant II at Holiday Retirement, and an Auditor at KPMG.  

Yana graduated from University of Portland with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, going to concerts, and hiking. 

Margaret Kubat

Show Margaret's Biography

Margaret joined TTBD in the Fall of 2015 from Hospital Administration and the Professional/Support Services Division for OHSU Healthcare. Her current role is supporting the leadership team at TTBD. 

During Margaret's tenure in Hospital Administration, her work with the American Red Cross brought awareness and drove participation to OHSU's blood drives, earning her a Golden Rose Award. Margaret's extensive executive support background includes past experience in various aspects of the Los Angeles entertainment industry, her last position playing a key administrative role in the start-up cable television network, ReelzChannel. 

A Vancouver, BC native, Margaret has returned to her roots in the Pacific NW where she takes advantage of the terrain on her road bike and snow skis. When not traveling with her husband, she enjoys walking/chasing squirrels with her beloved Westie Terrier, Zoe.
